Hi
What is the difference between mill cycles or mill operations? Is this something to do with 2d verus 3d?
Thank You
the difference to me is full control.
the operations are easier for beginners but i'm a control freak and need to see it exactly like i want it and where i want it.
if you write your own code generators you can control all the details outside of operations. (spindle on, coolant on, etc.)

With an Operation the user only needs to set some basic parameters and the software makes intelligent decisions on the best way to machine the part.
Inside of every Operation is a Cycle. So you can always adjust and "fine tune" the toolpath if you want to (like timf :-) ). Click the + sign in front of the Operation to expand it. Then you can double click the Cycle inside.
If you edit the Cycle inside of the Operation, it expands the components that make up the complete toolpath. You cant edit it as an Operation any more.

thats why i dont use them --- because when you edit them you arnt able to colapse them any more...plus its kinda silly to use an operation based on cycles that you will have to edit anyway .... too many mouse clicks!!
