My mill came with a Quick Change mill head (Wells Index, bought it used). It also came with about 10 tool holders varrying in size from 1/4" to 1" and a couple collet holders (1/2" and 1").

I've looked online for these holders and I haven't found anyone who has a picture to determine what kind they are. Does anyone know who might or what they are specifically called? I know that may be impossible to say without a pic but I though it's worth a shot since it may be a common size. The taper on them is a very gradual angle and smooth for (about 4 inches long, about 8 inches overall, around 2 inche diameter at the top of the taper). At the widest part it has two tabs on each side that hold the tool inplace (when they're clicked in place, the collar twists around them).

I really don't need any more tool holders but it didn't come with the tool to untighten the collar...perhaps that will be my first milling project. Plus I would just like to know what I have. R8's seem to be the easiest to find available...is this a possible/worthwhile conversion? The quickchange seems easier to me but I don't know what the quality of these really are (since they aren't as common).

Any info on this would be helpful.

Wells Index, bandit controller. Most likely a Kwik Switch 200 series, made by Universal something or other, also the same as the Collis Rapid Switch.

Here is a link with dimensions.

Thanks..I'll check out those links. BTW, my specs were way off (memory failing me again). The taper is about 2 1/8 long and up to about 1 1/4 diameter.
