can anyone tell me what kind of computer knowledge, software, hardware or anything that a person should have to do post editing?
post editing is something that I am not at all familiar with, but I know what I want the post to do. I just dont know how to make it do it.
One thing I want to do, is have the post place tool change positions at the end of operations and place optional stops after/before tool changes.

You can ask your Gibbs reseller to make the post edits for you.

If you have a mainenance contract, they should easily take care of this for you.

Sometimes in less than a day.

Your Gibbs reseller will do any post edits that you need, but if you do want to make changes yourself you can purchase "Compost" which is the software that is used for making Gibbs posts. Your reseller should be able to sell it to you, it costs about $3000 US, this includes a one week training course in California. Compost has its own unique language so trying to learn it on your own is hard.
If you are only doing simple three axis milling you could also use "Posthaste" which is installed with your gibbs software, it comes with documentation and you can edit it yourself.
