Well it took about a year but I finally found a Bridgeport J head that was I great condition for a great price. So I now need to hook it up. I has the original motor model 6-1155-02-166 us motors 3phase 1 hp look like it was made in '56

so would this VFD work (http://web4.automationdirect.com/adc/Shopping/Catalog/AC_Drives_-z-_Motors/GS1_(120_-z-_230_VAC_V-z-Hz_Control)/GS1-21P0) If i could run it on 110v that would be great I've got limited space in my subpannel in my garage

Thanks

Yeah - that VFD would be adequate. Looks like a nice VFD for a good price.

EDIT - OOPS! Sorry - 220 input required for that one. See post #5.

Unfortunately like most VFD the minimum is 220v single phase, so you cannot run on 110v, but your motor, if three phase is most likely 220/440.
You will have 220 single phase in your electrical panel.

Yeah I looked a little further. They have a 110v one but only up to .5hp
Oh well just need to relocate the outlet for the welder to the other side
of the garage.

Thanks

thanks I allready ordered the other one. I guess I should be more patient.
no big the 220 one is half the price. Here's a pic of the mill only paid $500
and it seam to be in very good condition. For being 50 years old

Nice looking mill! You are going to have fun with that!

Here's mine - it looked a LOT worse than yours prior to the re-build. The pic is after re-build but prior to CNC. It is now CNC'd. Oh -by the way - I was able to completely CNC it without drilling a single hole in the machine or altering the machine in any way, so it is possible in case you were wondering.

Look real good I think I read your build log love the blue paint job.

I have the control for the cnc done allready. I over built the control for my mill/drill in anticipation of getting the bridgeport. So I've got 3 axis with gecko drives and 1200 in/oz steppers ready to go when I get the mechanics figured out.

Now I just need to I just need to figure out if I can get away without having ball screws.

I don't have ballscrew on the mill/drill I rebuilt the nuts with moglice and it works great.
