Not sure if this is the right area, but I need some help on an old Thermwood Cartesion 5. When the E-stop is released the 5th axis starts moving and won't stop until it hits its limit switch. If I try to home the machine, or give any command to the 5th axis, the 5th axis goes into a frenzy until the machine goes into an E-stop or I cut the power.
I have disconnected the control board and the machine still does the same thing, so I know its not the controller. The optic limit sensor appears to be working properly, but the motor is ignoring it.
Could this be an encoder problem? (this machine has DC motors with encoders)
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
