I just got my stepper motors and controllers in. Not sure what and how one piece works - I am new to the DIY Router build. Been surfing the forum here and learning from other peoples plans. Also got these plans from here to get more of an idea how things might work or put together: http://www.bigbearcnc.com/ I am not following those to a "T", but they have been helpful for me to learn the basics from on how this should/might go together. But what I am building it much bigger and needs a bit more support. So between looking at those, what Joe Chevy posted and quite a few other members. I am expanding and learning. Has been great fun and a great learning experience for me. Love the forum here -

Sorry but I do not have any pictures to post right now. When I find the power supply to charge my camera, I can do them then. But not sure where it is at the moment.....

Q-1>
In the schematic diagram it shows it as two relay board. It looks as if it is to control the cutting tool. It has a connection for two of these tools. What type of router/cutting tools would be ctonrolled with this type of thing? Hope this makes sense what I am asking. I do not know how to explain it any better.

Q-2>
Using a replay like this. Does this mean I can control the RPM speed of the cutting tool from my computer in Mach3? If so that is so cool and what kind of tool would I get and is there anything around here show me how to put something together for that?

Q-3>
I want to make a table that can cut no less than 3ft x 4ft - I have my ACME 1/2-10 screw rods. I now have my steppers & controllers. Not sure how thick my support/guide rods need to be. And can I use tubes instead of solid rods.

Q-4>
What do I need to do for 3D routing/milling? I want to cut front/back and everything out with all CNC.

----------------------------
I have been looking at the plans that Joe Chevy posted and will use his bearings idea for the guide rails. I have my skate bearings. This weekend going to home depot to get me some nuts and bolts to attach them to the aluminum right angles to make the setuphe is using for that. Also need to get some wood while I am there. I am going to use killz to seal it and then paint over it. I am so excited about this build.

For my couplers I bought the ones from dumpstercnc.... They showed up earlier this week. Can't wait to see them in action and how well they work....

I already have a aftermarket CNC Mill. But it is small. Bought it when I was in England. For software - I was using Mach2 - other day I downloaded Mach3. Look forward to seeing what's new and using it to control this machine. Hoping soon will have it comfigured to control my other Mill as well.
Just unpacked my mill and lather from the move and got a transformer to drive them both. So hopefully this week will have those two up as well.

Building a DIY Router because 1> I wanted to learn how to do my own. 2> I wanted something bigger. My existing mill is just a small hobby size but was very expensive. Now with building this, it is costing less than my bought one and it will be able to do larger pieces.

Thanks in advance....

what ever you do make sure it is wire correctly. The boards blow easily. Mine blew b.c one lead came unhooked. I guess that is why, any way triple check everything.
