View Full Version : Comment of different configuration of DIY CNC abasir 12-19-2003, 02:50 AM Interested to hear the gurus comments (pro & con) regarding the following configuration. AM I correct to assume that you change position of router by unbolting it? Cool, by the way I am not even a chip sweeper yet. High Seas 12-19-2003, 07:12 AM Cooool - You must have had a lot of "hardware" lying around - @150.00 Euros (not counting Stepper motors/controller) that seems quite a bargain! It must be quite stiff to get good tollerances at full "ram/arm" axis extension. Bet it "stores" quite compact - if you ever put it away! Jim jgro 12-19-2003, 09:50 AM I like it! It's got me thinking again :) jgro HuFlungDung 12-19-2003, 11:50 AM Interesting concept, but I suspect it is very light duty. The length of the bearings is just not long enough, IMO. barbwirebi 12-19-2003, 12:30 PM I like the swappable spindle orientation! I like the small footprint. I like the simplicity of the design I like how flexiable you can be with your workholding. Kudos ! Barbwire Bill balsaman 12-19-2003, 07:17 PM Very cool. It's got a dremel on it, so it doesn't need to be super rigid. Very interesting concept. Eric abasir 12-20-2003, 01:22 AM To all, The contraption is NOT mine (though I wish it was). I happened to come across the site in my search for other ways of doing diy cnc. I like the fact that the router is basically plates screwed together, i.e., if I can find some soul to cut the plates for me then the rest should be achievable with normal tools. If I were to build it, what pitfall should I look out for? regards, |
