I've done lots of research on coolant/lubrication for cutting, and am looking at my options. Everyone talks about mist problems, or stinky sumps, or the superiority of oil, but I'm looking for more information about finished part clean up.
What do people do? If you use oil, do you use a kerosene based part washing tank? Paper towels and one of those fire proof wastebaskets?
If you are using water based coolant, can you just rinse the part? Is there enough residue to stop the part from rusting? Clean with simple green?
I'm dealing with hundreds of parts that get shipped directly to apperance conscience customers.
Is there a book that will tell me about post maching practices like deburring, finishing, and cleaning? All the books I've seen talk about how to cut the metal, not what to do afterwards.
Thanks!
