Being that I,m in the glass business, I have access to lots of Sliding glass door wheels. I was wondering if anyone had thought about using these for homebuilt cnc gantry mills? The nice thing about the assemblies is they have a wheel height adjustment screw. The bad thing is the wheel bearings are not the best in the world. I am planning a cnc gantry mill and I was thinking about using these as they are fairly cheap. I would like it to mill steel, aluminum, and wood if I can get it rigid and accurate enough but if I can,t then just to mill wood would be alright too as this would be my first venture into cnc. Any thoughts?

I thought about using these also when I first started looking at CNC. I ultimately chose roller skate bearings for their greater precision. The sliding glass door bearings are very rough in comparison and have an unacceptable amount of side to side play (movement along the rotational axis).
