I've been looking at this servo setup but was wondering if it was strong enuff for the Harbor Freight Mini Mill. I think this system was intended for sherline mills.

heres a link http://www.cadcamcadcam.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=126

Any thoughts????

Very, very nicely pacakged BUT until unless you look up the torque of each Globe motor your guess is as good as anybody's as to whether it would move the iron you want to tie it to. Their component links should be helpful in that regard.

This is further made more difficult by the lack of gearing information for the interconnection drives.

The preconcieved "kit" idea is cool. They should be able to provide you with what you need so as to tune the motors to make them spot on.

I'd call them and ask if they'd forward names/numbers of clients who've purchased their kit. Give someone nearby with the kit a call. You could make a new friend which could come in handy. I did this with some Grizzly stuff and they provided names for referral - I too got a call or two for a referral. Gave it gladly.

A satisfied or dissatisfied customer is your best source of info.

You really need to know if the driving software has the canned cycles you want/need to control your mill. Some guys make gorgeous systems but YOU have to write the machine code.

Some guys have great operating code, but you have to figure out the hardware. Very, VERY few folks integrate BOTH together in a top notch fashion and these are usually the higher ended systems.

I'd say, all in all, the offering has some real charm. Now, talk to somebody who has one!!!!!

Call Fred Smith @ IM Service(cadcamcadcam.com) 248-486-3600 and ask..Desk CNC is a very good operating system, the globe motors with their pre built reducers are really decent for the cost. From personal experiance, Fred will not BS you. They have a forum @http://www.imserv.com .Problems and misunderstadings are handled very promptly.

Thanks guys sorry for so many questions, but as I said before I want to do this right the first time. I think i'll stick to my original choice of Gecko and CNC Fusion with Mach 2 Thanks again
