Hello all,
Can anyone tell what is the grade of steel that is used as linear bearing shaft?

I think it also goes by the name of precision ground shaft. I am about to track some down and it might help if I can give the common name for it as well as the grade required.

What other sorts of grades have any of you used and how did they go in terms of wear? I am using pillow block style linear bearings.

Thanks in advance. M
