we are looking for a benchtop mill to produce small quantities of prototypes on and given the price limit (under $4k maybe 5 with a little begging), the tiag micromill dsls 3000 seems to be what we need. the problem is that certian people seem to think that we NEED an automatic toolchanger ( i dont agree but im nobody) I tried to explain that our price limit will make it difficult to find a mill with a toolchanger as an option or standard. so, what i am wondering is if there is any kind of 3rd party toolchanger systems out there that are fully automatic? i have seen some quick changers that would be all we need, but they need human intervention which is what a certian person says we cant have so i guess that isnt an option. anybody sen anything like this?

A tool changer will probably cost as much or more than the mill you have. Just buy a Tormach quick change, it supposedly works well.
I dont know if you have seen this, it is for a Sherline though.
