View Full Version : Turbocad/cam marvinstov 11-28-2003, 06:10 PM Anybody using this yet?? Comments? NeoMoses 11-29-2003, 04:26 AM I've used TurboCAD/CAM. I don't actually use the CAD, I prefer AutoCAD because I'm used to it. I find the CAM is pretty good, and can be learned in a few days. I've seen some problems with unequal radii, but this may or may not affect your machine. All in all, it's a pretty good bang for the buck, especially if you don't have a CAD program. marvinstov 11-29-2003, 06:28 AM Thanks for the reply NeoMoses, I'm using TurboCad 8.2 (Not the Pro verstion) but need to get deeper into the CAM part of things. Is the CAD part of it like TurboCAD 8.2 or the later 9.1? For someone familiar with TurboCAC do you think they would have much trouble getting up to speed with it? Marv bb99 11-29-2003, 10:46 PM Hi All, Got this in the e-mail: http://www.imsisoft.com/prodinfo.asp?t=1&mcid=152&cid=88658 It appears that there is a sale going on for TurboCAD/CAM. It's only $399 USD. I haven't seen anything as good as TurboCAD/CAM that is as close to this price. I think I might be buying myself an early Christmas present. --bb99 P.S. And no, I don't work for them, I'm just a TurboCAD user. marvinstov 11-29-2003, 10:54 PM bb99, Is this a new offer? Last I looked it was $995.00 or something close. Do you use it? I am thinking about buying it since I have been working with TurboCad a while (not a long while). Marv bb99 11-29-2003, 11:18 PM It’s a limited time offer (12/15). Here is the paragraph from the e-mail I got (I’m a registered TurboCAD user, so that’s why I think they sent it to me). Oh, and no, I haven’t used TurboCAD/CAM before, but for the price, how can I refuse? “NEW—Just Released! TurboCADCAM TurboCADCAM Version 2 is already an award winner, awarded "Best of Show" at the 2003 Design Solutions Show. Checkout its full support for milling, drilling, and lathing operations. Buy it before December 15, 2003 and get your special price. Regularly $995—Now only $399.95 Save nearly $600! Learn More” --bb99 marvinstov 11-29-2003, 11:20 PM Cool! I wonder why they didn't send me one, I'm also a registered user of TurboCad. Thanks, Marv camfambmw5 12-01-2003, 11:16 AM Hi bb99, I sent a PM to you, just thought others might want this as well. I contacted turbocad and they said they need the promotional code from the email they sent you. Without that code, we are all (apparently) s.o.l. Any help would be great...I plan on snagging this asap. John Chicago area marvinstov 12-01-2003, 03:09 PM camfambmw5, I don't know what code they would be talking about because I bought my TurboCad V8 here local but I'll search my e-mail. I ordered the TurboCadCam V2 yesterday anyway but there was no mention of any promotion code. Thanks, Marv marvinstov 12-01-2003, 03:14 PM camfambmw5, Just checked, I do have an e-mail that says it is proof of purchase. Went to the link to check shipping status, says it is backordered. Marv camfambmw5 12-01-2003, 06:54 PM HI, Did you get it for $39?/ If so, what did you have to show/tell/?? them to get it? Thanks for the help here...I just don't have a G to throw into software. John marvinstov 12-01-2003, 07:02 PM camfambmw5, No, didn't give them anything, just ordered it. Was $414.90 with shipping. There isn't a download link on there so it will ship on CD. Got another e-mail from them this afternoon at 5:18 pm EST with a tracking number saying it was shipped. I think the code may be for e-mail notification of updates or something, dunno. Marv bb99 12-01-2003, 08:47 PM Looks like Marv was the big winner! I just tried to order it and I can’t. It seems that the special was linked to me (I’m guessing the cid=88658 in the link stands for Customer ID, wish I had realized that earlier;^). So I can’t order it either. Marv, let us know how you like it and if you think it’s worth the 995. --bb99 marvinstov 12-01-2003, 09:03 PM bb99, Wow, I didn't mean to buy it out from under you. I did finally find the e-mail that IMSI sent on 11-26. It has the exact same cid number on the end of the exact same url. (88658) so maybe that isn't the code they are talking about. I'll forward the e-mail to you. Marv bb99 12-01-2003, 09:24 PM OK, it seems that the deal was canceled? I'll call IMSI tomorrow and let you know waht they say. Sorry Marv, didn't mean to blame you! --bb99 bb99 12-02-2003, 01:19 PM Hi All, I called IMSI last night and they were unable to find the TurboCAD/CAM special. However, I just called and got the s/w for 399! It seems that the special is still valid, you just have to call the 800 number (800-833-4674) and give them the reference code of #88658. --bb99 BIG AL 12-02-2003, 04:46 PM Hey folks thanks for that last post. Just got my order out!:p ;) marvinstov 12-03-2003, 07:29 PM Wow, it's already here. Guess I'll have to learn how to use it now. BTW it isn't too clear on the web site but it is TurboCAD V9 + TurboCADCAM V2. camfambmw5 12-03-2003, 08:39 PM got mine too, paid 21$$$ for overnight...couldn't wait 2 days ;-) I'm loving in already.. John Chicago burbs bb99 12-05-2003, 05:20 PM My copy just arrived! I'm going to install it now. I'll let you know what I think once I've had time to play with it. --bb99 InsaneEPP 10-13-2004, 09:40 PM Just wondering how this worked out for those that purchased TurboCadCam. Does it have full support for 3D CAM? Thanks! greyghost 10-14-2004, 01:24 AM I currently use TurboCadCam Version 2. I've done some work where several radii had to be blended. The parts I did came out well. I've been thinking about upgrading to V2.5 . If anybody were interested I might sell my current copy cheap. The EULA says a new owner could register the software. ger21 10-14-2004, 06:25 AM If you upgrade, usually the EULA will say that you can't sell the older version you upgraded from after you upgrade. You might want to check that out. jlyount 09-24-2007, 04:34 PM Hi All, I am new to this site and relatively new to CNC. I just purchased TurboCam v12.2 with the CAM add-on for $200 on Ebay. It was a Buy Now or best offer. I got my best offer. Jim Y |
