Ok....Ok, all this CNC talk has finally broken me......
I'm going to convert, Can I see a show of hands....

1. Stepper or Servo
2. 150 - 300 in oz or 300 + in oz

Right now my plan is ...A Gecko Driver w/ 180 oz in steppers (34's)

I would rather do this right the first time.... than redo it after it doesn't produce what I'm after.

This is going on a H.F. bench top mill the speedway series mill.
Primarily cutting Aluminum, occasionally steel.

thanks for any advice provided!

150 oz should be enough if it is the small mill I'm thinking of espeically if you gear down. Where are you getting your belts and pullys anyways.

gear it down.....I didn't think about that, as for where to get belts and pulley's .... I don't have any one place in mind to get them from. But now you've got my gears turning........

Is there a formula to determine how to step down motors for this application? I am looking to do a cnc conversion of an HF mill also. I have motors and would like to determine what ratio I need to use.
