I have a 5hp Colombo Spindle manual tool change, I was just wondering what it would take to turn it a bed type tool changer. Like what would you have to change on the spindle, how would you adjust the tool offsets. Nothing to complicated just around six tools in a rack at the end of my table with the tool in holder ready to go. When call for a change the router goes to the correct xy position slides the tool in the goes and gets another.
Keep in mind I know nothing about auto tool changers like ofr instance how does the spindle hold the tool ext.....

gcoding I'm pretty sure the spindle would have to go back to Colombo to be made into a atc spindle. An atc has a hollow shaft in the middle that contains the pneumatic gripper that holds the tool holder. The holders are much larger than what you currently use. My thought would be to sell the manual and use the money toward an atc. BTW they are not cheap.

These guys would be the ones to talk to. I missed a brand new 9hp atc colombo on ebay that went for $2500.............new they go for around $7000.
