I wanted a right-angle bender that didn't suck... so I took my Grizzly universal bender and rebuilt it.

Thumbs up! I like it - If a tool won't work for your needs then don't be too afraid to look for a solution.

I think that the parts you listed that didn't weld were Cast Iron. The die is chromed (over CI, I think). As you probably already know but others may not- It is best not to weld or oxy cut steel that has been plated (all of the common types of plating that I know of) due to risk of metal poisioning.

Nice site. I'm sure glad that I never started drinking coffee! - I wouldn't have complained but I wouldn't go back to that store either. I liked your writing style.

I didn't know that about the chrome. I just gave it to my local welder. Good thing to know.
