I have a Daewoo 230B with a Fanuc 21-I control but have no manuals on programming or operation. I know how to touch the tool off on the tool presetter but don't know how to get that information into the offsets.
Also when I try to MDI in a program I can't get past the program number. I'm assuming you have to give it a number and then enter the G-code but it won't let me enter a program number.
I have a wire EDM with an 18-I control on it but there aren't very many similarities between the two. On the wire machine I can simply enter the code and input and hit start to make it do the single block I asked it to do.
Any help would be appreciated

When you touch the tool on the presetter don't you have to push some button to send the information to the offsets page? I am trying to MDI in a single step like turn on the spindle or make a single X or Z move.
Thanks

I use 21I-T' controls without tool presetters and 16T's with tool presetters. I use MDI on both :)
On a 16T control, to manually advance the tool presetter using the MDI function, I use M80; When the MDI screen comes up the generic MDI program number is on the screen and highlighted. I type <hardkey (M)> <hardkey(8)> <hardkey(0)> <end of block hardkey (;)> then press the enter or input key(forgot the nomenclature...sorry)
Once the input/enter key is pressed, your single line block you typed is transferred beneath the generic program number. Simply pressing the cycle start button will execute the block. In this instance when you are finished with the tool presetter, repeat the process using M81.
The above mechanics of using the MDI feature are the same from the 16 series Fanuc to the 21I-T series Fanucs I commonly use.
Once the tool presetter is in the down position, the tool gometry offset screen should appear. As you index the turret to various positions on the turret, the screen will automatically scroll to the proper line for the corresponding geometry. You can then either use the MPG handwheel or the axis jogg keys to position the tool close to its respective tool measure probe. ****NOTE**** use higher jog feeds in either method ONLY to position the tool close to the probe, jogg the tool to the probe for measuring the tool using slowwwww jog settings!!!
Hope this helps, if any more questions contact me at ntek1@aol.com or email me through my website at www.cnccustomservices.com

In the above post, the "winking" guy represents a semi colon which is the standard Fanuc end of block symbol. ; :)

You may find that the offset screen will not appear untill you change to a manual mode i.e. handwheel. The Daewoo's I work on will not Q-set in Auto modes. So M.D.I. to lower the arm then change mode to bring up the screen.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the help. I have overcome the presetting problem. It automatically inserts the number in the offset page. That is what I was not understanding.
