View Full Version : On the Z-axis, All Movement Above Zero Are Positive - Right?

I own a K2-2514 cnc routing machine.

Wherever I set the z=0 point along the z-axis, all movement above 0 are indicated as negative in mach2. And - of course - all movement below 0 are indicated as positive.

This is not correct.

The result has been that for all profiling jobs I have attempted, I am a newbie, the machine has attempted to start cutting from the deepest point in the stock.

Is there a way I can adjust this?

If I have to live with this, would reversing the polarity of all z values in my g-codes solve the problem?

Hi there.
In Mach3 go in to "config" and then "homing/limits".
In there change the settings for the Z axis.
Best regards:

Meaning reverse it in the software, this is normal on many machines, like on the gantry it depends on which side the motor is installed as to which way is positive and negative moves are done. and also depends on if you have left hand or righ hand lead screws.

I use mach2.

Taking your advise, I visited config/homing. The advise is:"Homing direction : ... Homes towards minus when checked". Not quite what I had in mind.

Then I noticed Config/Motor Reversals: "Check box to reverse an axis"! I have checked the Z-Axis and will get back to you with the result.

Thanks for the steer.
