Is anyone able to get me a copy of the owner's/maintenace manual for the above lathe. Or can anybody help me as to what I should be doing ihn the way of general maintenace & adjsutment for one of these lathes especially in regards to the brake adjustment.

I did my apprenticeship on the lathes. I still have fond memories.....
Sorry can't help with a manual but usually it helps to clean the machine thoroughly and then check with a dial gauge for run out, play etc....
Some members here have experience on the topic of adjustments necessary...

Atmosports,

do a google search for tony@lathes, Tony has manuals for lots of things. I've just been in correspondance with him about my 1930's model colchester. If you buy form him, he is sometimes slow at getting things sent! You will find information on his site about your lathe including dateing by serial numbers. I found out that mine was built in 1944 this way!

Good luck, Matthew

Sorry to "thread hijack", I have a 1944 Colchester belt-drive "Master" you wouldn't happen to know where I can get a cross section drawing of the spindle, I need to adjust the thrust bushing and I can't see it! When working between centers, the back-gear gets gradually tighter! The spindle is bronze bushed belt drive!

Thanks, Matthew
