Wow, that's some amazing motor! What kind rapids do you get with such a motor? How big is the ballscrew (or rack/pinion) connected to it?

it's actually a spindle motor on a FH8800 mazak. I know, not exactly what the author of this thread was after but...
as for the axis drives max rapid is 1620 ipm max pallet weight is 6200 lbs. pallet included

I'd imagine something like that would keep moving if the power failed whilst it was rapiding...crunch.
