Been playing with an idea to make patterns for lost foam casting. can someone tell me why I cant use a soldering iron or a a dowl wrapped with wire in my router table ???

Seem like a easy change my driver evan spports a wire temp control. was playing with a wire wrapped dowl earler today and another one with a A loop on the end and both seems to cut well if not a triffle hot as the power supply was a 7 Amp Battery charger :rolleyes:

Should work but I don't think the accuracy will be that great.
When you melt a large amount of foam you will proberbly get droplets of melted foam left on the surface.

If you used a denser foam you could just route it.

Everything I heard was that shrinkage is so great the a few thousance off cutting is less of an effect than the shrinkage of the Alum or brass.

Always thought the harder the foam the harder to vaporize when pouring in the alum.

Plan on using drywall texture paint to case the foam, then suround with fine sand.
