I have a few computers that I am testing to run the Mach3 software on with the Xylotex controler board. I Have a 1ghz P3 that runs it at 25000HZ, but my AMD 2800+ @ 2.088 Ghz accually runs mach3 at a default 35000 Hz. I just thought that it was a faster Cpu and the standard speed went, 1ghz 25000, 2ghz 35000, and 3Ghz 45000. But it accually runs over 35000 Hz on the diagnostic screen running the motors.

I downloaded the 157 Page PDF manual for running mach3 mill and it says that the demo verison will only run at 25000Hz no matter what. So I guess i got lucky, or AMD rocks! lol The manual also says that a 1Ghz machine will run at 35000Hz pulse rate with the full version.

Im just trying to figure out if I should use my old 1ghz machine or my personal 2ghz machine. Maybe I should email them about the demo speeds.

So if anyone can enlighten me or explain some things for me that would be great! thanks

Whether or not a PC can run Mach3 at higher kernel speeds is reall a matter of trial and error when using slower (~1Ghz) PC's.
The demo version should not be able to run faster than 25Khz. Are you sure that it really is?

And lastly, Art has said that you should always run at the slowest speed that works for you. INcreasing the speed to 35Khz, if you only need 25Khz, offers no performance benefit, but puts much more load on the PC, which could make it less stable.

Ok that sounds logical. I'll give my 1Ghz machine more tries. But yes Im sure its the demo verion. It says Demo Version in the About mach3 Control window. Maybe its a motherboard driver thing.. donno!
