Here's a little something I ran across on the R.C.M. newsgroup. I have had many shipments from McMaster arrive "nextday" but never had an order that was this speedy. Quite a miraculous story, especially if you consider how many orders McMaster must get daily. Enjoy!

A couple of you guys were complaining a while back about McMaster
charging for UPS ground and then having a private delivery service
actually do the work. Well, there are certain advantages to that.

Yesterday morning at 9:20 AM I hit the send button on an order of
miscellaneous bolts and other parts that I had been accumulating over
the weekend. I expected the usual next day delivery from the Atlanta
warehouse to here in Macon. Well, at 12:51 PM yesterday, 3 hours and 31
minutes after I pressed send the delivery truck pulled into my driveway!

I could not have driven up to Atlanta and back in that time and rounding
up all those parts here in Macon would have taken all day.

McMaster is absolutely amazing with their shipping department. All shipping departments should be held to their standard. Even when I order simple UPS ground. I still get things within 2 days. And I have seen on one occasion a package sitting on my steps at 6:30 in the morning on my way to work less than 18 hours after ordering via standard ground shipping.

Enco is not too shabby either. UPS ground usually gets to me in 2 days sometimes 3, but usually 2.

I've never had a messed up order from either of them. And I order from both almost weekly.

Digikey is equally amazing. I've ordered stuff as late as 3pm one day, and got it the next morning, from Minnesota to Saskatchewan. I couldn't believe it.

Hope this helps. Those 4 websites are some of the best suppliers for machinists/hobbyists.

If you're looking for a good place to buy computer components, www.newegg.com is the best I've found anywhere. Prices are very competitive, shipping is always fast, and return policies are excellent. I'm not really sure how many of you build your own PCs, but if you do, it's definately worth a look.

Years ago, before McMaster had a warehouse in Cleveland, I ordered a blender (special concrete mixer) in the afternoon. I got it the next morning via motor freight! McMaster really aggrivates me when a shipment comes in two packages from the same place and then they double bill me on the shipping. They're so big they can't route a single shipment to the same packing station?

I have oredered parts for various things from Mcmaster, and have not only found them incredibly helpful, but incredibly detailed and organized. Not only that but I have often gotten regular ground shipments earlier than expected. Anyone who sends parts in ziplock bags inside the box that are labeled with not only the part, but the line on the order sheet has got my service, and you can find everything you need from a-z incredible!

personal opinion, steele that would annoy me too but it hasn't happened to me yet
