I have my first hard part to machine so I need some pointers. Questions I have are how do I make this part the stock body and how do I get the tool path to follow the surface. Do I need to make sheets out of all the surfaces? I am going to rough it out on it's side then stand it up to cut the top.

If you right click on the solid and click on properties you can set the solid model as a stock body. The easiest way to program a surface in Gibbs is to use the profiler, if you drag it over the surface or surfaces that you want to machine, it will allow you to program a contour around those surfaces.

What is the stock size before machining takes place? I assume you will be machining it in a vise? Give me those two answers an I will write a short pgm for some of it then you will see the different ways of doing it and will be able to complete this if not already done? Let me know.
