Here are some of the most common methods used for moving the x/y/z axis in DIY CNC routers:
1. Hardened & ground thread ball screws.
2. Rolled thread ball screws.
3. ACME Leadscrew with direct drive or belt reduction drive.
4. UNC/UNF Leadscrew with direct drive or belt reduction drive.
5. Stationary Rack gear with motor driving the Pinion.
6. Stationary rubber Timing belt with motor driving the cog wheel.
