View Full Version : What are my Z & Y axis going backwards?

Here is what is happening.

I have my CPU/Controller/Yzxis motor(640 0z)/ on my work bench. I am trying to get it to move the motor before I install on my CNC. I've uploaded a small dxf file.

I've loaded up MACH3 with SoundlogicM3. Front screen shows RESET Blinking.

1. I go to Diagnostic and see 3 yellow leds...M1++ limit M1--limit, M1home.
2. I go to Diagnostic ESTOP is blinking.

A. Go to (config/input) and change low active (green to-red X mark) on X--X++ Xhome axis...Yel led goes off in Diagnostics area.
B. Go to config/input and change ESTOP to a high active (red X mark to Green check)..Red led goes off in Diagnostics area.

Mach3 will RESET now. Now I notice...

D. UP & Down arrow (DRO shows X axis is moving)moves the Y axis to the left or right.
E. Left & right arrows (DRO shows Y axis is moving)moves X axis up or down.
***********this seems backwards**********

Tried in (config/motor output)reversed green checks/red X's using different combinations. No good.

I've tried (config/motor tuning) changing motor steps per unit in XYZ. SoundlogicM3 standard set is for 8000. I moved mine to 2000. I suppose this has to do with my Screw size and motor. I'm using a 20 thread. I have no clue to this.
Anyway, No Good.

***I have visually compared a Machmil setup with (no parameters) bascially that works correctly (up & down for the X axis)to the SoundlogicM3 profile. I've even plugged in the SoundlogicM3 parameters (config area only) in Machmil and the XY axis work correctly.

I give up. I cry UNCLE...Let's move on.

Now looking at the controller: According to PC-2 manual instructions.

I have a jumper wire on home and limit screws on J6-J13 on the PC-2 breakout board.
All leds limits say go. Also, the green led is on for powerup/on the PC-2 .
Gecko202 drives all red leds on. All systems appear to say GO. ...but NO GO.

Question: Now I'm wondering if the PC-2 is getting a message frommy PC. Is there a way to check to see if I'm getting a signal to the PC-2 breakout board? I've checked continuity of my parellel cable and it appears to be a straight thru for all pins.

Does Mach3 automatically install a driver for communicating with PC-2?

Bascially, I've described my set up. Do you see where I've missed something?

Go to configure>Hotkeys to change the jog keys.

Steps per unit should probably be 40,000. 200 steps/rev x 10 microsteps x 20 turns per inch.

Make sure the port is set correctly.

You might want to watch all the video at machsupport.com which explain all the setup.

cant help you with everything but the left right arrows and up down arrows can be change in the config menu.

Look under config/system hotkeys, then just move the numbers around until you get what your looking for.

The steps per unit is purely based on TPI of lead screw and gear reduction and steps per revolutionl (probably forgot something but its in the mach manual)

as far as the BOB board if you hooked it up you should know if you configured a pin for the e-stop (usually a charge pump) And as far as the limit switches if the BOB is saying Go and Mach is say NO-GO then you have mach configured wrong. If both are saying go and Machs DRO's are changing but your getting no movement then either your PIN-OUTS are set inccorectly or the Physical wireing is bad.

Sorry I couldn't help more.

.
I thought you change those arrows, when you’re south of the equator.... (to know which way the water will flow in a toilet).

My darn HOt Keys will not take. It ask for one a number but when you try to input a number for ex. 40 it will put maybe a 99. Hit a 4 and you might get a 102. Something is screwed up here. I've had 3 people tell this was an easy fix but it's not.

Soundlogic comes with a 38 in the X. If I try to change it I can never get back to it.

I have days in this thing!!!

Just type the key you want, it puts the number for that key. In your example above, 102 is the code for the #4 key.

Thanks..I finally got it. Is there a place for the code of numbers. I had to punch everywhere to find the numbers. It would have helped if the numbers transfered to the System Hotkeys. Mine didn't. I was trying to put them in in the INPUT area.

That really created problems because I winded up with different numbers in the same spot. Eventually, I threw away the SoundlogicM3 and reloaded it. This time I wrote the numbers down so as not to forget what was where. Maybe my program though.
Seems it should have worked. But again you knew the code of #4. I didn't know this..and a lot more as you can tell.

With this fixed I hope I'm on my way to get a motor turning. Gosh that would be great. It's like creating a ...well in my case a BEAST!

Thanks,

I'll be back I'm sure.

You don't need to know the numbers. I didn't, I just typed what you said they were. You just click the button, and type the key you want to jog with. Mach uses the code for that key when you hit it.

For some reason that finally sunk in. I was trying to make something out of the number. How long will it take?

This process is like talking to a deaf mute in China.

Again, go to www.machsupport.com and WATCH THE VIDEOS. It should make things much more clear. :)
