View Full Version : Hypermill user check in
single phase 04-11-2006, 08:29 PM Welcome everybody to the first Open Mind Hypermill (http://www.openmind-tech.com/zv) CAM Forum in English.
There are very established Hypermill forums in other languages but never before in English. I will get as many of my Hypermill user friends to check in here as I can.
I currently use Hypermill Pro ver 9 in Autodesk Inventor 10. Back in 1999 I started with Hypermill 4 in Mechanical Desktop 2. I use it to cut lots of 3D surfaces running my Milltronics VM-15 in the manufacturing of my products.
I am proficient in most aspects of Hypermill including the configurable post processor and I was a Hypermill consultant for my old dealer's other clients before I went direct.
Thank you Paul G and Matt for our NEW forum.
Cheers
Dave
rokpyle 04-12-2006, 01:04 PM Good to see a forum for us out here finally! I've used Hypermill since
1996, version 2 in amd. Things have come a long way over the years.
I hope this works out for the future
RdHawg 04-13-2006, 11:49 AM Started using Hypermill about 2 years ago. Very handy to have, although not my first choice of cam software - I do mostly 2d stuff (I'm pretty spoiled I've got about 4 to choose from.) I utilize it for all my 3d work and it really does a splendid job.
Chip Flinger 04-13-2006, 06:07 PM Just registered and posting to see if I'm legit......I'm glad to see a forum for hypermill...I'll be asking Q's and helping where I can.

RogerH 04-13-2006, 10:07 PM Dave,
I also use Inventor 10. Where can I get instructions for using the configurable post processor? I was looking for a way to tweak one of my posts today and couldn't find any help.
Thanks,
RogerH

I started a separate hyperPOST thread.

Coming up to a year of using hyperMILL/hyperCAD, and starting to get comfortable with the hyperMILL, using a lot of 5 axis toolpath. The hyperCAD on the other hand is a different story. To be fair our parts are designed using a different CAD package, so I don't get as much time in the hyperCAD as I would like. But as you all know, we need the CAD to manipulate the toolpath as much as possible.
A personal goal of mine is to spend more time at the hyperCAD, the more you use it the easier it is.

Jacktak 11-25-2006, 08:02 PM Nice Whit a Hypermill Forum..
Have used hyperMILL/hyperCAD for about 2 years. We have 6, 5axis cycles.
Think it is a very powerful 5axis cam software. 2 and 3 axis also.
Coming from Edgecam, can´t compare them, there is a world between..

Blowby 01-03-2007, 01:06 PM Good to have a place to talk about hyperMILL, started using in '97.
:)
single phase 01-03-2007, 02:18 PM Blowby, did you make that rotor?
Blowby 01-03-2007, 02:31 PM Not that one (it's on my truck), but similar ones using hyperMILL's 5x Multi Blade technology, have been made by some of my customers.
cgroppi 01-23-2007, 03:32 PM We have been using Hypermill at the University of Arizona for just over two years. We have a Kern MMP-2122 micromilling machine in the Astronomy Department that we use to make detectors for radio astronomy. Our machine can deliver +/-0.0001 accuracy on the part, and hypermill has proven to be very good at machining ultra high precision parts. Hypermill was recommended to us by the machine tool manufacturer as the best CAM program for micromilling. Open Mind also gives a very good educational discount to US customers, so we were able to afford 5 seats of 3 axis hypermill for Inventor with all the options.
Here's an example of a part we made with our machine, and Hypermill. The first picture shows the two block halves, the second shows a closeup of the most detailed part of the block, and the third shows the assembled block. The small grooves between the two larger channels range between 0.0048 and 0.0060 in width, and are 0.0204 deep, all with 0.0001 precision. The top and bottom blocks are registered to each other to within 0.0001.
Blowby 01-23-2007, 03:38 PM Good to hear that everything is working just fine for you Chris.
joshiroc 02-20-2007, 10:43 AM Chris,
Follow this link to another Hypermill thread. http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32674
What do you think about Hypermill's ability to use micromachining for turbomachinery?

anybody? lots of views but no posts!
Hi everyone,
I'm new to hyperMILL and am using it in the SolidWorks enviroment. Is anyone else using it from With in SolidWorks?
RdHawg 01-18-2008, 03:20 PM I didn't even know that was an option! I have a stand alone (Hypercad) seat
Alan L 01-18-2008, 03:22 PM hyperMILL Solidworks was released in Q4 2007 with v9.7. DVD's were sent in December/January. OPEN MIND was just announced as Solidworks Gold partner too!
LESSING 10-14-2008, 12:15 AM good!
