View Full Version : TAIG can be used horizontally!?

I was trying to work out a way to drill holes in the end of "tall" parts. First thing to come into mind was that I could tilt the Z and drill at an angle using X,Z axis rather than just the Z but that also meant I would have to fix the part at the same angle. I took the spindle mount off and turned it sideways and voila I can use the X for drilling parts the only problem I can see with this is that the motor is hanging very far to one side. In the pic evertything looks a little crooked its not an illusion everything is I was just taking a quick pic...

I have actually considered doing the same, but was worried about the motor hanging way out there like that. I suppose it could be done, just make sure your spindle axis is perfectly parallel to the table though (will take some tweaking with a dial indicator) otherwise your hole are going to be at a slight angle and oblonged.

Yes, you just turn the dovetail mount 90 deg.
