I just thought I'd post and say hello. I've been lurking for around a year reading and learning. I finally bought some equipment and was wondering if there is anyone in the Atlanta or Marietta GA area intrested in using some nice equipment in exchange for teaching some basics?
I have purchased 4 machines thus far, I know thats a lot to learn with but I fealt they would be used for different purposes.
Though problably a little nuts but I bought a Tormach CNC, Bridgeport clone, a big Cadalac Lathe, and a new style Taig CNC to start with. Been buying some basic tooling while I wait delivery on the gear. I figure I'll get my money back machining my own equipment for the two cars I race if nothing else.
We have a shop in Kennesaw, GA thats 12,000 SQ' thats primary purpose is tuning cars and a general performance shop. I have 2 BMWs that I race and they are one of the things that drove me to buy the machines and start learning some of this. After I started reading I was hooked as I really enjoy making things. The shop has 2 Rotary lifts, a huge Alignment lift, an AWD DynoPak Dyno and most every thing a car shop could want, - the gear I just bought to help make up the missing machining equipment.
My real job has been as a Network Engineer for 17 years, mainly Cisco Routers (not routers as this forum discuses;-) and switches. I'm becoming burnt out working for fortune 500 companys and hope this will be an escape route one day...
Anywho, just thought I'd say hello and check in with everyone!
