Hello,
I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction-
I have been using the lathe module for a while now. I usally do not use cutter comp for lathe work, but I thought I would try it out. The problem I ran across is that when I post the file, it outputs code as if there is a 0 radius programmed. It outputs the same code whether cutter comp is selected or not (it just adds G40,G41,G42 to the code).I tried changing the settings under file\preferences\machining from tool center to tool edge, but no luck.
Thanks in advanced,
Bill.

Hi Cncrunner,

What you have described sounds like standard behaviour to me. The offset required from the exact profile is created in the controller, and not in the code.

If, on the other hand, you do not use tool nose radius comp at the machine, then you need to create a compensated (offset) path in your CADCAM. In this case, the final profile is not exactly at the part dimension, but at the part dimension + tool radius.

Note, you may have to change your tool offsets by the amount of the tool nose radius, if your controller does not have a special offset table for nose radius by itself.
