View Full Version : Parallel Port pin blocking?

Hi all,

I'm unable to access most of the pins on my parallel port via KCam. I can get at 1, 14, and 17 just fine, but not 2-8. This makes some sense in that 2-8 are traditionally setup for data while the other three can be unused. So, I think some Windows service is actively using the other pins and it won't allow KCam in. Does that make any sense? I've turned off the print spooler, but no change.

This is an XP machine, and while I know about XP not allowing user processes to access hardware, I don't think that's the issue here...because I can get at three of the pins just fine. It's a Thinkpad, and I've verified that the bios believes the parallel port to be bidirectional.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

- David

I run DNC off my Lap Top using Com Port 1. That is also what I use for RS232C Sending and Recieving.

As a note there is a baude rate setting for the com ports on a computer and I have no idea how to set this. It's never had a problem so there isn't a reason to mess with it, yet.

BTW: Windows XP Home

See if this can help you.
