Have a Mazak slant-15 w/ T2 control, which is new to our shop. My problem is that I cannot get the X-axis to properly set. No matter where I set the offset for X in the tool file , the tool appears to stay about 3 inchs or the same position above the part and runs the program. Setting anything in Z is no problem.
Thanks for your time.

Maybe a chuck barrier setting problem?

If the chuck barrier is an issue you will get a barrier alarm.
Are you setting the tool off of the part or using the tool setter?

Going into tool file and hitting " teach" , entering the intial cut dia. , then input.
Also entered straight values +/- 3.0 inchs with no change.

So you take a skim cut in z and hit teach for X without moving the axis right, you have the right tool selected in the tool file when you do this? (I know that's basic stuff but just want to be clear....)
That's the way to do it...hmmmm.
Really sounds like a parameter issue, the machine thinks it is farther away than it is.
I had dozens of screwed up parameters when I got my machine. Someone had set the z axis 6" shorter than it really was. I swear it was like someone went through and with malice screwed everything up.
I'd go through the parameter list and compare to the stock list (should be in the wiring diagram book and in the control cab) that will only take 5 min to verify.
Is the program correct? You told it the start point in x was diameter of the part?
That's all I can think of.
There is a new Mazak forum over at www.Practicalmachinist.com you may have also post this issue over there.
