Hi there!

I have my father in law visiting from Central America. He is looking to buy well-priced used metalworking machinery (CNC machines, etc.) for export to Central and South America. He is in the business of plastics (building forms), so forms (thermoforming and others) are also a hot commodity.

Is anybody amongst you aware of good sources for that? A check on ebay only yielded overpriced equipment. I am sure there are lots of auctions, liquidations or just more down-to-earth approaches going on.

Thanks in advance for your help? Was this the right category to post that thread in?

Take care,

If you are into auctions and liquidations then take a look at Dove Bid! They handle a lot of factories and such. There is another company that specializes in plastics equipment. whose name escapes me at the moment. who also does auctions and close outs.

Of course then there is the local auctions. Around here there was a pretty large sell off a year or so ago but things have stabilized now

You are right the used machinery dealers are way out of line on thier pricing. Before going the uses route it is a good idea to attend a few auctions to get an idea of waht the going rate is. Often machines go dirt cheap. That of course depends on the machine, soe will fetch surprising high sales figures. It all depends on the state of the machine and the competition from new machinery.
