View Full Version : How well does master cam johnm 03-24-2003, 04:03 PM simulate the program that is written from it? hardmill 03-24-2003, 08:58 PM Mastercam is great for all 2d , some 3d. if your 3d is pretty complex you may want to consider veri-cut , predator or some other kind of simulation software.:D :D hardmill 03-25-2003, 02:03 AM For most stuff (pretty technical "huh") its more than enough. Some of the 3d work i've done is pretty involved and it requires something with a little more power. Other wise no need to spend the extra. CNCadmin 03-31-2003, 02:41 PM I liked using MasterCam, once you learn the basics, it get's easy'er. The simulation or NC verify is a very powerfull tool. freddie 03-31-2003, 06:19 PM I love using Mastercam. It was a big learning curve, and i am still learning. At first i hated it...(having used other software) but once i got comfortable with it,there was no turning back! I think the verify works great. Can't wait till i recieve 9.1 from our reseller.:) E-Stop 04-01-2003, 08:12 AM I've used several other CAM packages over the years and I'm fairly new to Mastercam (about 1 1/2 years) and the more I use it the more I like it. No formal training, just learned from books and asking questions. The verify seems to work pretty good as far as I can tell from my limited use. A few years back I was using Unigraphics with VeriCut and that was awesome. You could trust everything. freddie 04-01-2003, 08:53 PM A few years back I was using Unigraphics with VeriCut and that was awesome. Hi Estop, This must be done by using (2) seperate programs right? And is if so,is it any time consuming for having to describe all the tools,stock,ect... in the vericut? Where as,in the mastercam verify,it knows all the tools,ect...right from the beginning as you write the toolpaths. Also, did you get formal training using the unigraphics? I have heard that this is a really hard prog. to learn.:) E-Stop 04-02-2003, 08:10 AM Yes, Unigraphics and VeriCut were 2 seperate programs but once VeriCut was setup correctly (by our systems guru) they worked seamlessly together. You really didn't have to do any additional work to run VeriCut. All the info it needed was improted from the UG .CLS files. I got 40 hours of training on the CAD and Solids portion and 40 hours on the CAM side. Alot of the material was redundant and was paced for the novice. Most of what was taught could have been learned in less than 1/2 that time, under optimum conditions. But it was a very good training program. E-Stop 04-02-2003, 08:13 AM Forgot to mention. Training was provided by POLSTER CAD/CAM SERVICES out of Manchester, MO. cadcam 04-27-2003, 08:47 PM freddie if you have not received you update to 9.1 contact your dealer . It is now shipping to all 9.0 customers at this time. You will see a speed increase in the varify along with some new tools. Buried 05-16-2003, 09:06 AM along with a much faster verify in the new v9.1, it also comes packaged with a trial version of Metacut Utilities, a decent g-code (or nci) verify utility. I've had the full version of Metacut for a few months now and I like it. I don't think yhou can beat the price. cadcam 05-17-2003, 11:08 AM The Meta-cut is a nice tool. So you know it only supports at this time 3axis. Bill and his brother are real nice people any support needed they are there for you. mold100 05-27-2003, 12:24 PM There is no cam like Mastercam. I have used and evaluated many and #4#, it is unbeatable, Its powerful I cut alot of Complex Mold Cores and cavities never could not do it, works well for high speed machining and the cost is justifiable. cadcam 05-27-2003, 02:26 PM Old buddy Mold100 welcome to the board sir.;) hardmill 05-27-2003, 08:06 PM For awile myself and Jimmy were the only MC users here. Great to have all the good company:D :D MachineSMM 05-27-2003, 10:07 PM I am also a MC user. JIMMY 05-27-2003, 10:16 PM welcome aboard cadcam 05-28-2003, 12:18 AM I am learning, I will get it figured out some day.:D  hardmill 05-28-2003, 09:22 PM Very funny JAY. Now your teaching comedy? cadcam 05-28-2003, 09:29 PM Now your teaching comedy? How Did you know...:p mlinder 05-28-2003, 10:23 PM I use MasterCAM Router version 9.1. I was one of those souls who fought through BobCAD - with much help from HU. The key to any software is the support. My MasterCAM reseller, Charles Davis of San Diego CADCAM (shameless plug) has been nothing short of awesome. This gentleman knows his stuff and has set up our posts for our various machines. Our productivity has improved many times over using MasterCAM. I purchased our first seat back in August 2002, and another early this year. Any time I have a question, he responds either by email or phone within a couple days. Usually the SAME day. Although some may criticize it's lack of being totally a Windows product, it works. And it works GREAT. I hope I can learn even more from all of you MasterCAM users, even if I only use Router. Best regards, Mark Linder CNCadmin 05-28-2003, 10:26 PM I must say that cust support is VERY important, If I have to get support for Cabinet Vision I wait on the phone holding for 20 + mins. It's a joke! :( Mastercamm 06-01-2003, 07:54 PM I am new as of 3 months using any cam software and we have Mc9.0 and just recieved Mc v9.1 a week ago. I think its pretty user friendly but I am only doing 2d stuff right now. We do have 2- 3d seats of which I hope to get into in the up coming months. hardmill 06-02-2003, 12:06 AM Glad to have you here. Lots of help your in good company. PEACE:D |
