Wondering if anyone had any suggestions on filler rod to braze a broken tail pipe for a motorbike? The pipe is all chrome. Will 56 cad free work? Or bronze?
Or would it better to OA weld?
Thanks

delangecycles,
Having bent and welded up what seems to have been miles of exhaust tubing I will recommend this, do not braze, better off with a coat hanger for filler rod.
When gas welding I used a uncoated, hardened 3/32 steel rod, mig welding I used .035 steel wire. Brazing just does not hold up to vibrations well. There may be some exotic stuff now that does, but even then it is doubtful that it will equal just good old steel filler rod.

I always had good luck with nickelsilver brazing rod. Flows well, holds well, strong as weld if done right. Have to be careful to preheat the joint and not cool too fast though or it will go brittle.
This stuff (http://www.homedepot.com/prel80/HDUS/EN_US/jsearch/product.jsp?pn=179212). As you can see it's not difficult to get hold of ;)

Sounds good,
I am going to grind it down and try to gas weld it with that 3/32 rod. Thanks a lot.
