Hi !
I'm about to get a CAD system and I would like to know which one is the best. Solidedge or Solidworks ?
It's going to be for simple 3D sketches. I need to draw in 3D to get files which I can import in different CAM software like AlphaCam and Sylviexpert ?
Thanks for your help.

Neither one of them are "simple" and for sketching only I believe it's an overkill. They are pretty equal so in the end I think it's a pricing issue.
If you check the Solidworks subforum there are som answers to your question and for sure you'll get opions here too. :)

also most of the CAM software can allready do simple 3d modelling on their own so you don't actually NEED a 3d modelling software per se. I don't know about the two you're referring to though...

I would think that the decision should be between SolidWorks and Inventor. They both have a higher market share than SolidEdge. SolidWorks is listed as #1 worlwide, this is important when you need to deal with customers.
90% of the customer 3D CAD I deal with is SolidWorks 2% is Inventor and 8% is other (none have SolidEdge).
I love SolidWorks

I've used both and like both about the same. Most people I deal with also have SolidWorks as DareBee has stated. Although, I don't deal with one that has Inventor.
I run into the models in this order.
