I thought I would try building the probe that is at http://www.indoor.flyer.co.uk/probe.htm I understand the contruction as it is pretty straight foward. However the wiring I am a little confused at, so I have a couple questions that I hope someone can answer.

Do you need a relay board that connects to the 3 axis controller board? Or does it connect straight to the 3 axis board? Or do you need a 4 axis board?

My CNC currently is using the Xylotex 3 Axis XS-3525/8S-3 controller board and Turbo CNC.

Any info will be great on how to get it wired up.

Wiring is also pretty straight forward. It's just like a home/limit switch, just one wire to an input on your controller board or parallel port input pin and one wire to +5V.

Hope it helps.

Thanks Jeroen, however where do I pick up the +5v from, from the pc board or an external power supply????

I looked at the Xylotek pdf of your board and on the right side should be some break-out screw terminals with +5V(Vcc) and parallel port I/O.
This is where you connect the wires, though I might advice to shield them and connect the shield wire to ground.
(Use an audio cable like on a headphone :))

I don't know your board so others may be of more help.

You can strip a usb cable and see! I pull +5 from there for other aps. Jim

If you do that you will bypass every opto-isolation between the breakoutboard and the pc (if it has any).
