I need 2 each of 7/16"-13 left-hand-threaded nuts. I would prefer that they be .2" thick but I will take what I can get. I would use my lathe but that is what I am working on.

View Full Version : I need 2 7/16"-13 left-hand-threaded nuts kdoney 02-10-2006, 10:10 AM I need 2 each of 7/16"-13 left-hand-threaded nuts. I would prefer that they be .2" thick but I will take what I can get. I would use my lathe but that is what I am working on. wms 02-10-2006, 11:17 AM Never heard of a 7/16-13 thread..not even listed...are you sure?? 7/16-14 yes..7/16-13 no... MCmaster Carr has 7/16-14 stock..or probably any good fastener supply could get you some.. kdoney 02-10-2006, 01:42 PM Well I ordered sloppy 7/16-14's from mcmaster and I'll see if they work but I verified it when I first bought the motor and then rechecked it after I looked for and couldn't find the tap. The distributor says that the thread on the end of the motor is indeed a 7/16-13 left hand thread. Mcgyver 02-10-2006, 03:49 PM that's such an unusual thread.... I googled and found this... http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?UID=2004061918145829&item=10-1906&catname=electric so somewhere in the supply chain someone does believe its 7/16 13....but it seems strange, have you mic'd it and checked it with a thread gage? Without that confirmation that it really is 7/16 13 i'd guess its either 7/16 14 or maybe the more common 1/2 13 thread and the motor guy is wrong kdoney 02-10-2006, 07:27 PM I tried to check but the total thread length is only .473 so I'm still guessing whether that last thread would be there or not. That is the motor I am talking about. It fit right into the old spot for my 9X20's chinese motor with no mods to either the gears or mounts. That was too hard to pass up. Mcgyver 02-10-2006, 07:45 PM thats why you need... http://catalog.starrett.com/catalog/catalog/groups.asp?GrpTab=Spec&GroupID=256 or just buy a nut of each and see what fits or maybe it really is 7/16 13 and that's why its surplus :D kdoney 02-11-2006, 08:56 AM Thanks for all of the help gentlemen. It was a 7/16-13 and I found someone locally to cut some for me. tjones 02-11-2006, 11:56 AM Special but most likely it is a 11mm X 2 if it is a chinese motor. kdoney 02-11-2006, 05:07 PM The chinese motor was the one I was replacing. This one's from Mexico under license from the US. I'm betting the sloppy 7/16-14 will fit when it gets here. If it was a 11X2 then I would still be in the same situation since I couldn't find one of those either. |
