I don't normally order material at our shop, but have been looking for some 420 sst flat stock. I was hoping for 1 1/4" x 1/4" or 1/2" x 1/4" material. I didn't realize how hard it was to find anybody stocking very much of this stuff. Anybody happen to know who the "MSC" of stainless steels might be??
TIA

Hi,
Do a Google search for 420 Stainless Steel. You will find a lot of info and many suppliers. Maybe even someone in your area.

Usually there is not much of flats in 420 available.
What I normally do is, buy a slab of round, turn to the with, band saw cut out and mill the rest.

Konrad,
Go to toolanddie.com. They do not have 420 but they have 440.

Yes,
I am quickly discovering that 420 SST is not the most common amongst flat stock. Thanks for your help, I will continue to look. I wish I could sub. another material in place of this, but the engineer said that they chose 420 SST for specific properties. So it kinda blows that we cant deviate on the material.
Thanks

Hi,
A friend who does a lot of mold work said you might try "The Steel Store"
they have a web site www.steelstore.com and their phone number is 937-847-0321 and their fax is 937-847-2467.
