Thanks,Kelly E-mail-huebertmachine@yahoo neilhuband 09-26-2008, 05:12 PM I'm Neil by the way,, I'll do a little intro, since this is my first post (but you'll probably see quite a lot of me around here from now on). I served my time as a mechanical engineer with Michelin Tyre PLC, that was a few years ago, and I have done a lot of manual machining. My boss at work was impressed with the quality of my work, and, having expressed my interest to get into the CNC section, when a position came up, he offered it to me first. My work has 2 CNC's, a Haas SL20 lathe, and a Bridgeport VMC800 Heidenhain TNC Mill. I started about 3 months ago, on the Mill, and am now able to program anything that my boss throws at me, with the very occasional little helper from the guy who's been there for years. Great advantage of the much older heidenhain is that you can be writing a program in while the machine is producing a different part, kinda like sky+, but cooler, lol. Gonna start learning the lathe soon too though - did a little G-coding at college a few years back so I should pick it up ok. I do love the heidenhain conversational though, it's so easy to learn, but I want to learn the PC software side of things too: my work doesn't use mastercam or anything, but if I'm to progress up the job ladder, it's something I feel I need to learn. (and also want to because I've always found CNC's to be the coolest things ever). Would someone please send me the Heidenhain 410 conversational post processor file (3 axis), so I can have a bash at learning mastercam? I would be eternally grateful, and you'd be welcome round at my place for a drink (Stella Artois, or Stolichnaya are the choices) any time you like ;) Anyways, like I said, I'll be hanging around here quite a lot, this is by far the biggest and best CNC forum I've ever seen, so many knowledgeable folk all hanging around in one place can't be a bad thing, eh? :) neilhuband@hotmail.com Cheers! |
