Is it alright to use paint thinner (mineral spirits) to clean up the marking on a Granite Master Surface?

It will not hurt the rock, but the best cleaner is GoJo non abrasive hand cleaner!

Starret makes a surface plate cleaner that isn't very expensive and works extremely well. Also, keep 'em covered. Mine picked up an amazing amount of debris until I got a cover for it.

I've found that some soap and water, then finish off with Acetone leaves a nice non oily, non sticky surface that the height gage just glides around on.
