Hi All

I've found a transformer manufacturer in Melbourne that might be of interest.

I gave them a ballpark definition of a 240 to 48V transformer capable of 10A and was quoted $138.50 + GST plus $5 to cover the non standard secondary woring. Delivery in about 10 days.

Does that sound good value?

Their pricing is based on the VA rating which for the spec above would be 500va.

THe name of the company is Altro and they are in Campbellfield (www.altro.com.au).

Any opinion / feedback would be useful.

Note this is a ballpark spec and can be varied to suit individual needs. I will have to work out my exact needs closer to purchase time.

Doesn't sound outlandish but you could find cheaper.
A 500VA toridal transformer from Jaycar is priced at AU$99 (From the Aussie web site)but they dont have a voltage mentioned. You could contact them for details.
If you used 2x 12V-0-12V 300VA Jaycar transformers it would cost you AU$126 but give you 48V at 600VA.
Thats 48V AC by the way, that will give you about 67V DC no load.
