Glenn,

You say that the Z axis keeps faulting. Can you give us a little more info? Can you move it at all? Does it only fault at certain speeds? What's the fault that you get?

As for the RS232, you will need to check and see if this control has the Buffered Input Option. Go to the Catalog mode and type in RS232C as the program ID. Press Mode Select and take a look at the menu's. If some of the menu's are missing, you have the Buffered Input option.

Regards,
Scott

It looks like the z axis is jammed and the z servo is faulting out

Z Fault on a Dyna path was usually a limit/overtravel if I remember correctly.
Is there an opening under the Z axis drive motor? With power off you can see if the motor or axis is bound up. If it is free and your not on a limit it is time to start looking at the drive boards. All of the Drive board are usually identical, you can swap them from another axis and see if that works.
If so then the board is bad
Good Luck
Ken

I recall that some how the reference point on the Z was messed up and when homing th machine the Z would retract into the head and then there was a fault. It is possibl this is why we have not been able to manualy Jog the Z, WE have to hold the MOTION Control Overide to manuever, if we let go of it, It will Fault (E stop is the message)

If you need some more info try calling Dynapath Phone # 249-488-0440 or if you are looking for new boards you will have to call Servo Dynamics at Phone # 818-700-8600. Both companies are really helpfull. I only know this because I was looking at a Clausing mill on ebay, lost the bid, it had a Dynapath 10 controller but needed a new x axis board. Hope this helps

More than likely I will Sale it as we Have purchased machining Centers, and it is occupying room we need for them.

I would like to see it work before i get to that point.
