Greetings, Once upon a time, a very long time ago indeed,
I was a mechanical technologist. ( when computers ran
paper tape programming.) I would like to learn about how
to make a low cost, simple CNC machine and about the
computers, software, digitizers, etc. ( sure hope I got
the words right!) Can any one direct me to the proper
sources on this site where cnc machines for dummies
can be found? Please drift me an email because knowing
my luck, I'll never find my way back to the list again.
Many thanks, Q. Collins

For reading I would suggest http://www.mendonet.com/cnclinks/ and for your first spending program try www.stepperworld.com. These systems are of very little value in the real world but they are cheap enough to throw away after you learn what you need to learn. If you only want to spend your money once then go to www.campbelldesigns.com and www.geckodrive.com. Gecko has an excellent tutorial on stepper motors.

Flamers ... this is my opinion. Give yours.

Try here: http://www.cnczone.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=209

I think it would also be beneficial to peruse through these projects to get a "feel" for all the different approaches to the building process. ...bookmark anything that you find of interest for future reference.
