I've been asked to get machine running after 18 months of non use. manual lost but have fanuc manual. I can reference machine to home set tools with probe no problem.can somebody tell me how to reference tools to workpiece so as the machine knows where it's at.
it may be simple but I'm stuck (chair) :withstupi

Don't have a fanuc 18t (have mitsubishi control) on our Puma450.

You need to set your G54 (work offset) to the point you are going to call Z zero (the front of the part). Do you have a work offset page on the control?

Is this the same as the workshift page if not, no I haven't found this page.Does this call up the difference between the probe position and the front of the part.

Does this workshift page have a column that you can set your Z shift for individual work coordinate systems:
G54
G55
G56
etc...

You should be able to "teach" a Z value for the work coordinate system you want to use. (The command screen will tell you the currently selected system)

If you can not teach the Z value, you will have to type in the Z value displayed when you touch the tool the face of the part.
