Hi All,

I'm trying to build a CNC router from the Servo Magazine article (May & Apr '05). I would like to use it to mill foam and balsa wood.

The board that the author uses is the OSuni3 board. I downloaded the .sch and .brd files and printed them in Eagle. In the picture that is shown in the article, it shows ground planes on the copper side, my printed version has none. I know that there are suppose to be some ground planes on the board because some of the components are not grounded.

Is there a link to a correct file or is there a better open source solution. I'd like to stick with the OSuni board if possible because of it's size but I'm also looking at pminmo's website for some guidance.

When you say 'refresh', do you mean a 'redraw' (F2 key)?

It will take me a while to email you a scan of the article, but I here is the .brd file that I'm using. There is also a weird trace that is drawn over the board that I think is a keepout layer. I couldn't seem to find any kind of documentation on the OSuni boards. Am I looking in the wrong places or has the comunity gone to more recent/capable drivers.

Wow! I didn't know the OSuni board was available on your website! That .pdf file will help me get on the move with this project. I guess I'm going to be spending a lot of time on your site.

WHile I not the designer of that particular board, CNCzone member TACHUS42 was, but he hasn't logged on for a year or so, it was kind of the early start of some designs we did here on the cnczone as available to the public for non commercial use. I can't speak for TACHUS42, but I'm not sure how pleased I would be if one of my designs winds up in a commercial magazine. Not that it's not out there for public use for people such as yourself. But as free content for a magazine............., maybe Tachus42 gave them permission, at least I hope they contacted him before using it.

Interesting that the boards longshot has posted do have some differences.
While I like using the IRFZ44 (more robust) I'm not sure that 4000 series at
5v will drive them strongly enough(vs IRLs). I would have connected the 4013s to a 8-12v supply or used a driver chip between.
