CDignition, welcome! I'm sure you already found the musical construction forum. The stuff guys like Yemmyell do makes me wants to become a guitarist! I hope that you will enjoy this place as much as i do!

NeoMoses 09-11-2003, 10:41 AM Wow, I'm impressed by some of the stuff you've done, especially the dashboard. Did you stamp that yourself? If so, nice work.
Also, taking a 650 lb. aluminum billet and removing over 500 lbs. is insane! That would definately keep me on my toes.
I think you'll fit right in here. Welcome, and enjoy your stay. :)
anoel 09-11-2003, 11:51 AM What string plant do you work for. I used to live fairly close to the Mapes plant in Elizabethton, TN. They crank out a lot of wire. I'm a guitarist too, and love muscle cars. So your A-OK in my book.
balsaman 09-11-2003, 12:02 PM Good to have you. Welcome aboard.

CDignition 09-11-2003, 12:32 PM Thanks for the warm welcome..;)
I make the dash plates on a CNC mill...I can configure them any way I like and cut it out in 4 minutes,lol...it is fast and easy.
We buy alot of wire from Mapes...we make Guitar strings and Bowed instrument stings(Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass)
Our Guitar line is Black Diamond...I design and build all the wire winding equipment we use..:)
anoel 09-11-2003, 02:25 PM Very cool, I'm in the design process of a coil winder right now. Not exactly the same thing but still... My winder is to be stepper based and the traverse will be stepper based also. I've got to write the software so that I can do different winding patterns. I'll mainly be doing guitar pickups. But it may be enough to do small transformers and inductors too.
I imagine that winding a guitar string has got be a challenge mechanically.
I've heard that the Black Diamond guitar strings have really improved, were'nt they off the market for a while until fairly recently. I tried a few sets in the 80s and the plain strings were like barbed wire. I might have to check them out again.
Can I get a sweet deal on a case of 9s direct?
CDignition 09-11-2003, 06:22 PM I dont do the sales stuff,lol...I think theres some good places online to buy them, along with Sam Ash...
We use all Allen Bradley Servos and PLC/HMI controls..Servos are almost the same price as steppers now, and a whole lot more accurate..:)
WallCrawler 09-15-2003, 08:33 PM Welcome aboard..:p

Jennifer 09-16-2003, 04:12 PM Hi CDignition!
Welcome. Ya know, I didn't truly appreciate those muscle cars until a friend put me behind the wheel of one (68 Barracuda) and told me to step on it!...wow...
