When we changed from NT to WIN2000 we started getting a beeping noise when we click on empty space. It happens when you click on DELETE (or any command) and you click on empty space on you screen rather than a line, sfc, spline, etc

It is driving us crazy and we would appreciate any help you might have in turning that beeping noise off.

Heh, annoying isn't it?

Is it the pc speaker or your table speakers. (Coming from INSIDE the box?)

Control Panel, Sounds and Audio, then Sounds. System sounds are controlled there.

That was my first guess. The speaker is built into the computer and the master sound control is already turned off and the beeping is still going on.

Any more suggestions?

Could it be a busy signal?:p
The only other speaker I know of can be on a modem card.

I get the same beep w/ XP, just does'nt annoy me though.
I always have auto cursor on , so thats why its probably
not much of an issue.

We also have auto cursor and auto highlight "ON", but when you do a power pick (power delete, power drag, power translate) it drives you crazy !

Found the solution to eliminate the beeping noise.

- Control Panel
- System
- Hardware
- Device Manager
- View
- Show Hidden devices
- Non plug-and play drivers
- Beep

Right mouse click on BEEP and click DISABLE. It will be effective after you re-start your computer.
