I heard they'll be burning CD's in October for shipping late in the month. Is is worth it to DL beta version from website? I'm getin' itchy....but I think I'll wait for a nice clean CD install.

Prolly worth it, but install it seperately so you keep your old version.

Back in my Gibbs days I found them to be fairly decent installs.

Share some of the updates with us!

Hey guys,

The new version is GibbsCAM 2004. They dropped the version #'s for some reason. I think it was to follow SolidWorks format.

Any way, The beta for it is on the user web site. This is beta ONLY. They are still several cuts away from release canidate versions and then GOLD. This processes should be rather quick though.

Check it out. Best viewed with XP Pro. This version is compleatly certified for XP from Microsoft.

see ya.

I'm running the 2nd beta version (6.80.53) right now and I feel it was worth the download time (dialup). Couple of the new things I really like are the "Project onto Model" plugin and the "Profiler". I'm going to start experimenting with the "untrim and extend" surface tool.

The latest version is 6.80.55.
As for the trim/untrim. DONT BOTHER!! This does NOT work the way you think it should.

Spend alot of time with the profiler. This is a very cool tool. There are many hings that it can be used for other than toolpath.

Gibbsgod, I think they dropped the version numbers to follow autocad 2004, or maybe both? Doesn't matter. I have to admit, after talking with you and other guys from Gibbs, I think this is going to be the best release yet. My favorite enhancement is being able to move solids around using the constraint tools that almost mimick the same tools in Inventor.

With this being a major release we'll be getting new manuals with it ......right?

Not to sure. They might be sending out addemdums (however the hell you spell it) for existing customers and new manuals for new orders.

I could be wrong though, I have only see the full manuals so far.

In the "Gibbs Online" under the "Current Release Software" section. You must be up to date on your maintenance and hava a login and pasword for the users area.

If not call Gibbs for help.

yukonho,
GibbsCAM does not provide demo versions of their software....where are you located at? I would be more than happy to find a reseller in your area to show you GibbsCAM capabilities.
