View Full Version : Anyone figure out the EMCI.INI

I just setup a Linux box with EMC. To see how it ran the steppers and to see if I liked it well enough to drive my servos later.

I'm finding it quite confusing to get the units set up. It might just be that it's not clicking in my brain.

I've got 200 step per rev steppers. 18TPI lead screws.

Where in the hell do I set up the parameters for these in the INI?

Also, Are the Parallel port Pins defined only one way or can I chage them to be what ever I want? I'd like to set it up to use the Axxus Parallel port card that I have.

Any experienced EMC user input would be Grand. Thanks

Look for the INPUT_SCALE and OUTPUT_SCALE variables. I think your value there should be 11.1111111.

I've got 200 step steppers and 20 TPI lead screws. If i had been running it in imperial i'd put in 200/20 = 10.
But since I'm running it in metric i had to do the following:
25.4/20 = 1.27 mm/rev on the screw
which makes my input/output scale: 200/1.27 = 158.48.

let me know if that doesnt make any sense..

i've heard that you can use bridgeportio and redefine the pin outs on anything except the spindle controls.

if you want to redefine the pinouts on the spindles i think you'll have to recompile it (i've heard they are working on making the pinouts options in the config)

When i started with EMC i joined #emc on irc.freenode.net and they were very helpful. they got me going in notime.

Imperial
20 tpi
200 steps / rev

input scale 20x200 =4000

i.e. 4000 steps per unit(inch) of travel
output scale relates to servos
